The chakras are transducers (shunt point) for stepping energy up or down. They are the whirling vortex of energy at the conjunction point of the mind and the body.
The traditional location of each chakra correlates with a major gland and main autonomic nerve plexus within the body. The yogi's analytically introspected the points where each chakra is located corresponding with the points in the body where psychosomatic illness most commonly manifests.
The chakras are also of great importance in the study of horoscope as each has its own chakras swami - a planer with its own distinguishing characteristics. The chakras are also called as padma, means lotus with peculiar number of petals or 'Dala' of each. Every petal has a nerve controlling a physical activity to which it travels in the body and a significant 'swar' (sound) is inbuilt with the nerve. It has also its own specific colour.
