Each person's individual constitution and its interrelation with the nature's forces is the key of Ayurvedic practise. Each of us has a unique constitution determined by the balance of three vital energies in the body known as the tridosha. They are known as vata, pitta and kapha.
Doshas not only determines the constitution and the related illness to which one might succumb but it also determines one temperament. The ideal state of health as per Ayurvedic philosophy is |
An individual is healthy when the tridoshas work in balance. And the healing theory behind the sacred system is the balancing of all these three elements, Each one has its role to play in the body. Kapha is linked to water in the mucous membranes phlegm, moisture, fat and lymphatics.
An illness is merely an excess or less of one or more of the elements.
